چکیده

Fresh leukaemia cells from the peripheral blood of 6 patients with B-chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) were cultured in the continuous presence of the phorbolester 12-0-tetradecanoylphorbol 13acetate (TPA) for in vitro induction of differentiation. Upon treatment with TPA the cells showed distinct morphological changes consisting of cytoplasmic and nuclear enlargement, vacuolisation and protrusion of cytoplasm, eccentric location of nuclei with perinuclear clear zones, and oval to elongated cell forms. Isoenzyme profiles of the enzymes carboxylic esterase, acid phosphatase, hexosaminidase and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) were analysed by isoelectric focusing on polyacrylamide gels. An increase in the number and in the staining intensity of isoenzymes were observed for all 4 enzymes in the TPA-exposed cells indicating a maturation along the B cell pathway. TPA triggered the new expression of the tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase isoenzyme, a marker of hairy cell leukaemia (HCL) cells, and of the hexosaminidase I isoenzyme, a marker of multiple myeloma cells. The induced phenotypic changes are suggestive of differentiation to stages corresponding to those of HCL cells or 'pre-plasma cells'.

Lead and cadmium accumulation potential and toxicity threshold determined for land cress and spinach

Soil contamination with potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in agricultural lands, in part, is responsible for limiting the crop productivity and the food chain contamination. The objective of this study were to asses the limiting of crop productivity by cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb), the potential transfer and bioaccumulation of these PTEs in plants, and ultimately the food chain contamination to e...

High- but not low-intensity light leads to oxidative stress and quality loss of cold-stored baby leaf spinach.

BACKGROUND Quality management in the fresh produce industry is an important issue. Spinach is exposed to various adverse conditions (temperature, light, etc.) within the supply chain. The present experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of light conditions (dark, low-intensity light (LL) and high-intensity light (HL)) and photoperiod (6 h HL and 18 h dark) on the quality changes of ...

A partial reaction of delta-aminolaevulinate synthetase from Rhodopseudomonas spheroides.

microsomal fraction. The properties of the microsomal phosphorylcholinetransferase enzyme are similar to those reported for that from spinach leaves (Devor & Mudd, 1971), except that exogenous diglyceride was necessary for maximal rates, presumably because the activity of endogenous lipases was not high enough to generate a sufficient amount. These results indicate that, whereas the CDP-base pa...

Feasibility Study of Aquaponics in Polyculture Pond

Submitted: May 17, 2013; Accepted: Jun 26, 2013; Published: Jun 30, 2013 Abstract: The study was conducted to see the feasibility of raft aquaponics in polyculture pond. Three experimental ponds (with an area of 5.2, 3.12 and 3.12 decimal) were selected where the third one was considered as control pond. Locally available cheap materials were used in preparing rafts, e.g., bamboo splits, iron w...

اثر زئولیت بر جذب کادمیم در گیاه اسفناج در شرایط آبیاری با پساب

Water scarcity forced farmers to use wastewater as water source, without considering its effects on environment and resultant contamination of soils and plants especially with heavy metals. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the application effects of zeolite as soil amendments on the uptake of Cd by spinach (Spinach Oleares L.) irrigated with wastewater (containing 10 ppm Cd). Differ...

تأثیر شکل نیتروژن و pHمحلول غذایی بر غلظت فسفر، نیترات و نیتروژن بخش هوایی اسفناج در کشت هیدروپونیک

In order to study the effect of nitrogen form and pH of nutrient solution on the shoot concentration of P, nitrate, organic N + inorganic ammonium, and total N of spinach, a factorial experiment was conducted with two factors including pH of nutrient solution in three levels (4.5, 6.5 and 8.0) and nitrate to ammonium ratio of nutrient solution in five levels (100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75 and 0:10...
